We all teachers have used word searches to introduce, review and build vocabulary, and we also know that they can help to improve spelling and word recognition skills.
We can also say that, correctly used, they are fun and the most of children will enjoy completing word searches. They can be used to introduce a lesson or as a closure.
We can give our students word searches with the word/image bank or ask them to find as many words as they can about the topic they are learning.
But in addition to this, we can also let our students to create their own word searches, so they will keep practicing their vocabulary skills while still having fun. We can give them the list of vocabulary to create the word searches or they can create one about a topic previously learnt.
I´d like to share with you a couple of tools my students use to create, print and share their own word searches.
